Medical Institutions & Hospitals Now, rating for hospitals Our Bureau
MUMBAI: The Credit Rating Information Services of India Ltd (Crisil) has rated three hospitals in the country as Grade A in the first ever attempt to grade healthcare institutions. The rating agency said that the healthcare institution grades on Apollo Hospital, Chennai; Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre, Delhi and Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Delhi. Mr Ravimohan, Managing Director, Crisil said, "We are proud to be the first agency to announce healthcare grades on hospitals in India. We are enthused by the response to this product from established leaders in the industry, such as Apollo and Escorts.'' Crisil's grading for healthcare institutions encompasses the entire spectrum of healthcare facilities from nursing homes to multi-speciality tertiary care hospitals. The grading scale has two components; the first being a hospital classification, such as nursing home, general secondary care, speciality secondary care, multi-speciality tertiary care and single-speciality tertiary care. The second component would be the hospital's grading within that classification on a four-point scale, according to the press release. The four grades are Grade A, Grade B, Grade C and Grade D. The grading reflects on the facilities, equipment, manpower, service quality levels and patient care.
