Gold, silver zoom to new high

MUMBAI: Prices zoomed to recent new highs in both the precious metals on the local bullion market on Wednesday.

Gold bar, crossed the Rs 57,000 mark, gaining Rs 750 overnight while silver was at Rs 7,500 with gains of Rs 105.

Standard mint gold opened firm by Rs 50 at Rs 4,890 per 10 gm and ended at the same level.

Gold bar, 10-tolas, resumed with gains of Rs 800 at Rs 57,400 to be finally placed at Rs 57,350.

Ready silver .999 fineness opened at Rs 7,545, against Rs 7,440 per kg and ended at the opening level.

NEW DELHI: Gold and silver prices strengthened to continue the uprise on the local bullion market in line with overseas advices and resultant lower commencements against emerging demand.

Gold biscuit and standard extended gains by Rs 90 to close at Rs 4,940 and Rs 4,950 per 10 gm.

Spot and delivery silver registered a steep rise of Rs 100 at Rs 7,500 per kg.

Silver coins climbed up by Rs 100 to Rs 11,600- 11,700 per 100 piece.

CHENNAI: Bar silver (per kg) Rs 7,710; retail (per gm) Rs 8.15; 24-carat gold (10 gm) Rs 4,980. Gold 22-carat retail (per gm) Rs 457. (Rates at 3 p.m.)

KOLKATA: Gold ready Rs 4,890; silver ready Rs 7,575.
