Our Bureau Chennai, Feb. 7 The Tiruchi and Ranipet units of the public sector Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) have leased space in the Research Park being set up by IIT Madras. At a function held at IIT, Madras on Friday, the modules were handed over formally by Dr Sandhya Sekhar, CEO, IIT-M Research Park, to Mr A.V. Krishnan, Executive Director, BHEL Tiruchirappalli Complex, and Mr A. Chandrababu, General Manager-in-Charge, BHEL Boiler Auxiliaries Plant, Ranipet. Dr R. Sundaram, Chief Techno-Economic Officer, Industrial Consultancy & Sponsored Research (ICSR), IIT Madras, Mr C. Jeyadevan, GM/Engineering, and Mr G. Ramakrishna, GM/Outsourcing of BHEL Tiruchirappalli, Dr S Sekar, GM/Engineering & R&D of BAP Ranipet, Mr V Venkatesh, GM/Marketing & Commercial/BHEL Piping Centre, Chennai, and other senior officials of BHEL and IIT Madras were also present on the occasion. BHEL has leased 6,000 sq ft at the Research Park, which will be utilised for carrying out joint research with IIT Madras for the development of advanced technology solutions for the energy sector where BHEL is the market leader. Work on refurbishment of the interiors of the raw leased space is to be completed by BHEL by March this year, says a press release from BHEL.
