Our Bureau

Mumbai, Jan. 20

The Maharashtra Government has decided to impose entertainment tax of up to 25 per cent on the ticket sales for IPL and one-day international cricket matches.

Matches held in the municipal limits will attract 25 per cent tax while those held outside will be levied 20 per cent.

A decision to this effect was taken at a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

The government has also decided to levy entertainment tax on Internet Protocol TV service which will be at par with the duty structure currently imposed on cable and DTH service.

The monthly entertainment tax on pubs in five-star hotels has been increased to Rs 2 lakh while hotels located outside the city limits will attract Rs 1 lakh.
