One should be consistent in being creative in business and at work to be successful, according to Mr K. Pradeep Kumar, Head of HR, ITW Signode, a division of ITW India.

Addressing the management students at Kasturba Degree and PG College for Women in a lecture organised by the Hindu Business Line here recently, Mr Kumar said creativity was a process and could be taught.

Highlighting the opportunities for women in the corporate leadership, he said women need to crack the ‘invisible barrier' that prevents them from occupying important positions in business.

“You should be watchful of next big step you take,” he said.

“Researches prove that women are more creative in bringing change. This behavioural pattern is to be leveraged to grow in corporate ladder,” Mr Kumar added.

Observing that creativity would lead to innovation, the HR expert said a person should always keep a close tap on the happenings around him — especially market changes, perception changes and new challenges in businesses.

“There is a difference between what one aspires to be and what they really are now. The difference between these to becomes a decisive factor in creativity,” he said.

The ingredients that support and enhance creativity were the direction, or the vision and enthusiasm, among others, he pointed out.

Mr Nageswara Rao, Chief Manager of Karur Vysya Bank (KVB), which sponsored the lecture, said KVB was always in the forefront of identifying and young talent and was looking forward to brighten up many more students' future.

Mr Satya Prakash, director of the college was also present.
