Jetty inaugurated at Paradip port

Kolkata, Nov. 26 The Union Shipping Minister, Mr G.K. Vasan, on Thursday inaugurated a jetty at the Paradip port that will be used by both Coast Guard and India Oil Corporation.

He also inaugurated a roll-on and roll-off jetty and laid the foundation stone for the construction of oil berth, according port sources.

This was his first visit to the port as the Shipping Minister.

The Chairman of PPT, Mr K. Raghuramaiah, and the Deputy Chairman, Mr Biplav Kumar, welcomed the Minister and took him around the port.

The Minister also reviewed the performance as well as various development projects of the port and discussed the security issues.

The Chairman explained to him the status of the on-going projects and steps being taken to revamp the security.

The Minister also held discussions with local trustees of the Board of Trustees of the port and received representations from the unions, the sources add.
