Hardware ‘Demand for print devices improving’ Our Bureau
Mumbai, Nov.19 The combined market for printers, copiers and multifunctional products (MFP) in India has increasedby 10 per cent in the third quarter of the current year vis-À-vis the second quarter, according to research firm Gartner. However, on a year-on-year basis, the market contracted by 15.7 per cent. “Sentiments are improving in India and the printer market has seen a positive response, with consumers and businesses again starting to spend on print devices,” said Mr Vishal Tripathi, Principal Research Analyst at Gartner. In the printer, copier and MFP market, with the exception of Canon and Epson, three of the top five vendors recorded a decline in the third quarter of 2009. The biggest loss was incurred by Hewlett-Packard which saw a 55-per cent decline in laser printers. The company also saw an overall decline of 32.1 per cent in the third quarter year-on-year, Gartner said. More Stories on : Hardware | Office Equipments & Supplies
