UK chain launches hotel in Bangalore

Our Bureau

Bangalore, Nov. 19 The UK-based hotel chain Premier Inn, which has launched its first property in India at Bangalore, plans to invest about Rs 400 crore in India spread over three-five years.

The hotel chain plans to launch four more properties in India.

Mr Aly Shariff, Managing Director, Premier Inn India, said that two of them would be located in New Delhi and Pune respectively, while the other two are yet to be finalised.

The New Delhi property (142 rooms) would be opened in late 2010, while the 175-room property at Pune would be opened in early 2011. “There is a huge demand for cost-effective good-quality rooms for both corporate and individual travellers. We would be targeting all tier-I and tier-II cities in the country in phases,” he added.

The 105-room Bangalore property comes with a room tariff of Rs 2,600 a room a night.

There are no categories of rooms at the property, and “all rooms cost the same”, said Mr Shariff, adding that the hotel would charge the same price for single and double occupancies.

From January 1, 2010, the room tariff would be Rs 3,100 a room a night.
