Interim dumping duty on DVD-R, DVD-RW recommended

Our Bureau

New Delhi, Nov. 17 The Designated Authority in the Commerce Ministry has recommended imposition of preliminary anti-dumping duty on the import of Digital Versatile Discs-Recordable (DVD-R and DVD-RW) from Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.

In response to a petition filed by Optical Disc Manufacturers Welfare Association (ODMWA) through TPM Consultants here, the authority initiated a preliminary probe and found that the subject goods from Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam have been exported to India below its normal value. As a result, the domestic industry has suffered material injury caused by the dumped imports.

Accordingly, provisional anti-dumping duty of $31.90/1,000 pieces from producer and exporter Ritek Vietnam Co Ltd, Vietnam, has been recommended, while other producers or exporters from Vietnam or any other country producer or exporter using Vietnam as country of origin would have to pay $49.25 per 1,000 pieces.

While $25.98 has been recommended for exports from Thailand, it is $35.92 for Malaysia..
