Derivatives Markets Columns - On the hedge Our Bureau Chennai, Nov. 17 Turnover remained moderate at Rs 71,301 crore on Tuesday on a volatile day. The Nifty Nov futures closed in the discount at 5056.85 against the spot close of 5056.85 and shed 19.01 lakh shares in open interest. Among the Nifty options, Nifty 5000 put shed 54,800 shares while 5100 call added 2.32 lakh shares and the Nifty 5000 call accumulated 2.23 lakh shares. This indicates the emergence of call writers which means limited upside. Stock futuresReliance was the most active followed by Reliance Capital and Tata Motors. Almost all the active counters witnessed a drop in open interest suggesting profit taking. Bharti Airtel futures saw a drop of 17.25 lakh shares in open interest and closed in premium at 297.25 over the spot close of 296.45. Tata Motors shed 13 lakh shares, Reliance Capital lost 5.76 lakh shares, Reliance Industries discarded 2.56 lakh shares, Suzlon 4.17 shed lakh shares and RCom witnessed a fall of 3.78 lakh shares. HDIL futures, however, added 7.95 lakh shares but closed in a discount at 354.2 against the spot close of 355.5.
