Hunter Douglas on expansion mode

Ahmedabad, Nov. 17

Window covering and architectural products manufacturer Hunter Douglas is targeting the Rs 850 crore blinds market in India with launch of 10 exclusive galleries next year, according to Mr P.K. Sundaramoorthy, Managing Director, India Operations. “We plan to have a total of 35 galleries by the end of 2010 with 10 in tier II and III cities,” he said at the opening of a gallery in the city. Headquartered at Rotterdam, Netherlands, in India the company has assembl ing lines at Silvassa, Chennai and Bhiwandi. It plans to set up additional assembling facility in Delhi next year and in the East by 2011. The window coverings industry in India is largely in the unorganised sector with few key players owning up to 15 to 20 per cent of the industry, he said.
