Tea Tea prices stay weak at Kochi auction Our Bureau Kochi, Nov. 13 Arrivals eased at the Kochi tea auction to 12,81,000 kg in dust and 3,54,000 kg on leaf grades. There were several withdrawals this week as prices continued to remain weak. Prices quoted Rs 3-5 lower for most dust grades except for a few high quality varieties. There was good demand from Tata Tea, Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation and loose tea traders. AVT remained subdued while Hindustan Unilever did not operate and upcountry buyers stayed away. Exporters who were selective absorbed bulk of the offerings in orthodox dust grades. Leaf teaPrices gravitated lower at the leaf auction by Rs 5-10 but for a few select grades which remained at last week’s levels. Exporters were less active as buyers for CIS countries remained selective and subdued. Exporters to Tunisia and Iraq were less active and operated at lower levels. High grown fannings were absorbed by Tata Tea and few upcountry buyers. In the absence of auctions elsewhere last week, inter-State buyers were quite active at the CTC leaf auction and prices appreciated with higher margins. Top pricesKilKotagiri BOPD fetched the top price at the dust auction at Rs 128 followed by Parkside BOPD at Rs 123, Pasuparai FD at Rs 122 and Pasuparai SFD at Rs 121. At the leaf auction, Pascoes Woodlands fetched Rs 175 followed by Glendale FOP at Rs 170, Chamraj FP at Rs 160 and Chamraj FOP at Rs 157. More Stories on : Tea
