EADS spare-parts support venture

Mumbai, Nov. 12

EADS, through its Airbus division, Airspace Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, and Airlogic Ltd Sti, a Turkish company, have formed Spares Support Solutions India Pvt Ltd (SSSI), a new spare part and logistics support joint venture, said a statement from EADS. The venture, which is split 26 per cent between Airbus and 37 per cent each for the other partners, will maintain an inventory of rotable components used on all types of Airbus commercial aircraft by operators in India for outr ight sale, exchange and customised pooling arrangements, it added. The new venture represents a significant investment in after-market customer support for Airbus’s Indian customers. Airspace Infrastructure has expertise in bonded warehousing and compliance with the Indian customs regime. Airlogic specialises in component trading, distribution, repair management and spares exchange programmes. SSSI will also offer sale/leaseback of component inventories; the purchase of inventories associated with fleet phase-outs; and localized, just-in-time, support to both airlines and MROs in India. —
