Nurture tech innovation: Intel

Bangalore, Nov. 12 “There is no point beating our heads over physical infrastructure because the future belongs to digital infrastructure.

“The country has to leap ahead and take advantage ot it,” said Dr Prashant Vishakantaiah, President – Intel India.

Speaking at the BangaloreIT.biz conference, Dr Vishakantaiah said looking at mere organic development will not take the country anywhere.

“If we continue to nurture software and services, we will continue to excel in that just. It is time to nurture innovation in technology.

“The opportunities in innovation are high for India...”

Unique ID project

His vision for India by 2020 includes possibilities such as high WiMax density, transparent e-governance, broadband enabling primary healthcare, intelligent buildings and virtual infrastructure.

On whether the company sees a role in the government’s unique ID programme, Dr Vishakantaiah said, “The project is very important for India.

“Depending on the technology and expertise required, we are available.”

He, however, wouldn’t say more.
