Our Bureau

Chennai, Oct. 29 The Union Government has allocated Rs 12 crore to Tamil Nadu for the State’s mobile-governance project, Dr Poongothai Aladi Aruna, the Tamil Nadu Minister for Information Technology, has said.

Speakng at a seminar on ‘knowledge management’ organised here by the Confederation of Indian Industry, Dr Aruna observed that the mobile phone is going to be the fastest medium of knowledge transfer and would make an impact in the creation of a knowledge society.

Mr Ashok Soota, Chairman, CII Mission on Knowledge, and Executive Chairman, Mindtree Ltd, said that knowledge creation and sharing, which are in their nascent stages today, would evolve rapidly and turn out to be the key drivers of growth.

The best way for sharing knowledge is teaching. Industry and academia should come closer. Knowledge is a powerful source.

If not shared, knowledge diminishes, but multiplies when shared, according to Prof S. Sadagopan, Director, IIIT, Bangalore, who also spoke at the seminar.
