Infrastructure States - Kerala Work on new airport terminal apace in Kerala Our Bureau Thiruvananthapuram, Oct. 28 The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is hopeful of commissioning the new terminal complex at the Thiruvananthapuram international airport by December as originally envisaged. Speaking to newspersons here after conducting the visiting State Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Mr M. Vijayakumar, around the up-and-coming facility, the Airport Director, Mr N. Nagaraj, said that the existing international terminal on the Shanghumughom side would be converted into an extended domestic terminal. All existing facilities, including the cargo complex, would be shifted to the new terminal once the State Government handed over the remaining parcel of required land to the AAI. Mr Nagaraj and Mr V.K. Malhotra, General Manager, Projects, AAI, who heads the development work, explained to the Minister the salient features of the facilities being created. He was told that the cost of the works on the terminal would touch Rs 300 crore. Mr Vijayakumar too told newspersons that the AAI authorities are trying to shift international flight operations to the new complex by the end of the year. More Stories on : Infrastructure | Kerala
