Arecanut machinery fair from Oct 30

Our Bureau

Mangalore, Oct. 27 The Arecanut Research and Development Foundation (ARDF) will host a three-day fair on machineries related to arecanut sector, at Puttur in Dakshina Kannada district from October 30.

Mr S.R. Rangamurthy, Managing Trustee of ARDF, told Business Line that a large number of growers depend on manual labour for various activities related to the arecanut sector such as harvesting and processing.

At the same time, many innovators in rural areas have come out with their own mechanised methods in these areas.

The fair gives an opportunity for such rural innovators to exhibit their models to other growers in the region. Around 30 such innovators would share their experience with more than 20,000 arecanut growers during the three-day fair, he said.

The programme is being jointly organised along with Vivekananda Engineering College, Puttur, and the Farmer First Trust, Puttur.
