AP plan to reduce stamp duty

Hyderabad, Oct. 25

The Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to reduce the stamp duty to 5 per cent by the end of 2012 as a part of mandatory reforms committed by the State to the Central Government. The Government, in a memorandum with the Ministry of Urban Development, had committed to bring the duty down to 5 per cent as a part of the rationalisation move. The Centre has sanctioned Rs.12,523 crore worth projects under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission projects in the Sta te. The Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, who held a review meeting on JNNURM also wrote a letter to the Union Urban Development Minister regarding the State’s commitment to meet the stamp duty reduction assurance. —
