Our Correspondent Madurai, Oct. 25 Sterlite Industries-sponsored 30-bed paediatric block built at a cost of Rs 85 lakh, was inaugurated at Tuticorin Medical College and Hospital. Mr Ramesh Nair, Chief Operating Officer, Sterlite Industries, said that the company, in association with the District Health Society recently launched ‘Save A Child’s Heart’ Programme to sponsor free heart surgeries for 50 underprivileged children at a cost of Rs 30 lakh and took various initiatives including project clean hand, medical and blood donation camps in 25 villages in and around Tuticorin, besides running seven rural health clinics in the villages. Ms P. Geertha Jeevan, Tamil Minister for Social Welfare, inaugurated the block in the presence of Mr V.K. Subburaj, Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, the company press release said.
