Delhi Metro starts retailing toy train models

Our Bureau

New Delhi, Oct. 14 To cater to the growing base of metro users and enthusiasts, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has started selling a toy metro train model as a souvenir.

The toy train model is available in two types: one model has push back feature, which allows the model to move (priced at Rs 105), and the other model is without this facility (Rs 95).

DMRC, which retains the rights to manufacture the model, has manufactured 3000 models initially through a Delhi-based fabricator.

The models will be available only at the Metro museum located at Patel Chowk Metro Station, said a DMRC release.

“The present toy trains are based on the Rotem model of DMRC coaches. In case these are popular, we will also manufacture models based on Bombardier coaches,” said a DMRC official.

The toy train model is an exact miniature of an actual metro coach on a ratio of 1:64. The dimensions of the model are 19X4.5X5cms (LXBXH). The colour of the model is steel grey and the body is made of non-toxic plastic.

The other souvenir items available in the museum for sale are key chains, tie pins, cufflinks, pens, books related to Delhi Metro.
