Derivatives Markets Columns - On the hedge Our Bureau Chennai, Oct. 14 Turnover remained moderate at Rs 65,953.48 crore on Wednesday. The Nifty futures ended with a marginal premium at 5120 against the spot close of 5118.2. It shed open position, indicating profit-taking. Among the options, 5000 put added 2.75 lakh shares while 5100 call shed 3.05 lakh shares. The 5200 Nifty call added 3.6 lakh shares, suggesting that traders rolled over their position from 5100 call to 5200. Stock futuresThe day belonged mainly to metal futures. Sesa Goa was the most active counter followed by Jindal Steel and Tata Steel. While Sesa Goa accumulated 13.96 lakh shares, Jindal Steel and Tata Steel shed 4.93 lakh shares and 2.46 lakh shares respectively. Sesa Goa finished in a discount at 341 against the spot close of 342.25. However, the other two closed with a marginal premium, indicating short covering. Reliance Communications and Bharti Airtel continues their weak trend. But both the futures added open position. While the former accumulated 26.27 lakh shares, the latter added 11.77 lakh shares and both ended with marginal premium over the respective spot close.
