GTech pat for Govt on e-governance initiatives


Kerala has bagged four awards for improving the quality of life through infor-mation technology.

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct. 9 The Group of Technopark Companies (GTech) has commended the IT administration of the State Government for managing for itself the highest number of awards in the CSI-Nihilent National e-governance awards.

The prizes were distributed to the respective winners at a function held in Pune on Friday.

Kerala has bagged four prestigious awards for unleashing the power of information technology to improve the quality of life as also for creating an enabling environment for economic growth and equity in the State.

Kannur district has won appreciation for outstanding efforts in demonstrating excellence in implementing e-governance project.

In the project category section, higher secondary centralised processing, the e-Krishi Project and the Sulekha Plan Monitoring System for Decentralised Planning won awards for better implantation and delivering value and quality of service to stakeholders.

A GTech spokesman said here the e-governance initiatives being implemented in the State would provide an opportunity to take the benefits of the information and communication technology to the grassroots level.

This also would also help create a strong technology infrastructure in the State to deliver a comprehensive set of services to citizens in the area of education, healthcare and agriculture.

GTech complimented the efforts of the State Government and the IT department for spearheading the e-governance initiative in the State.

GTech and the IT industry would be keen to share the experience and knowhow to further strengthen the e-governance initiatives, the spokesman added.
