Bond prices fall

Mumbai, Oct. 6

Bond prices fell by about 60-70 paise on expectations of a hike in rates following comments by the RBI Governor, Dr D. Subbarao, that the easy monetary policy is likely to end, said bond dealers. The total traded volumes on the order matching system were lower at Rs 6,495 crore (Rs 11,620 crore). The 6.90-10 year-2019 benchmark paper opened at Rs 98 (7.19 per cent YTM) and closed at Rs 97.62 (7.24 per cent YTM), against the previous close of Rs 98.21 (7.15 per cent YTM). The 7.02-7-year-2016 per cent paper opened at Rs 99 (7.2 per cent YTM) and closed at Rs 98.71 (7.26 per cent YTM), against the previous close of Rs 99.19 (7.16 per cent YTM).
