Handicrafts exporters seek Govt intervention on shipment delays

Our Bureau

New Delhi, Oct. 2 Handicraft exporters have complained that their shipments at the Delhi Cargo complex have been held up for the last ten days due to non-functioning of the electronic data interchange (EDI) system at the Delhi Customs.

The Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) said the backlogs could result in deadline delays and also order cancellations.

“Exporters are already facing recession and clearance of the goods at the customs on slow mode using manual system may result in cancellation of export orders involving heavy losses in this hour of crisis,” the EPCH Chairman, Mr Raj Malhotra.
