Beam Global eyes Rs 600 cr revenue

V. Rishi Kumar

Hyderabad, Sept. 30

Beam Global Spirits & Wine Inc, fourth largest premium spirits company, is eyeing a bigger pie of the domestic spirits market, and expects to close the year with revenues of Rs 600 crore, up 20 per cent over last year.

The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Beam Global, Mr Harish Moolchandani, said that the industry registered a growth of about 16-18 per cent in 2008, and is currently under pressure to register similar growths. The market has grown by about 13-14 per cent during the first three quarters of the year.

Premium product

However, in spite of slight pressure on overall sales volumes, Beam Global expects a growth of about 20 per cent over last year by launching a range of products including its newest premium scotch whisky Teacher’s Origin, he added.

Mr Moolchandani told Business Line that the company currently commands a market share of about 40 per cent in the premium segment of scotch and expects to grow market share by another five per cent this year. The numbers in the first nine months reflect this positive growth.

Festival offer

The company today announced the formal launch of its premium scotch whisky Teacher’s Origin, which adds to its portfolio of existing products of Teacher’s Highland and Teacher’s 50. Significantly, the company is announcing the global launch from India, he said.

“The launch of this coincides with the festival season, and we expect this to serve as an ideal gift item.

The product is made in traditional casks of 75 litres against the current trend of using 150 litres and 200 litres casks.

This ensures that the product which comes with high malt content of 65 per cent reacts well with the wooden containers and adds to the taste,” he said.
