KTDC focus on Russian tourists

Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 29

The Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) is on an overdrive to market the State as a destination to the Russian market, according to Mr Cherian Philip, Chairman. This is expected to help the KTDC overcome the `crunch situation' brought on by cancellations in the wake of global recession. The public sector company has entered into agreements in this regard with various tour companies in Russia, Mr Philip said on return from a travel mart held in Moscow. Kerala received only 5,000 Russian tourists during the last season. This compares poorly with an estimated two crore outbound tourists from that country.
