Modern techniques: Transplanting under way in a paddy field in Thrissur in Kerala. Farmers in several parts of the country have adopted modern techniques to increase productivity. Harvesting using machines has also become common in Kerala and elsewhere in the absence of sufficient number of farm labour and rising wages.
