The Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Mr Jitin Prasada, launches the SMS facility for LPG refill booking in Kochi on Friday. Our Bureau Kochi, Sept. 18 The LPG customers of Indian Oil and Bharat Petroleum in Kerala can use SMS facility for LPG refill booking from Friday with the launch of this customer-oriented initiative of the oil industry by the Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Mr Jitin Prasada, at BPCL-Kochi Refinery city office. The service, which has already been launched in Delhi, would be expanded in phases to cover all metros and State capitals. Mr Prasada said that the Union Government would go ahead with the India-Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project. A decision in this regard is likely to be evolved at the next Secretary level meeting to be held in October or November. Task forceThe Government will constitute a task force with the Additional Secretary in-charge to check adulteration and diversion of LPG to make clean and better fuel available. The task force will also check the pending letter of intent issues connected with the allotment of dealership and distributorship of LPG/petroleum outlets to the SC/ST communities. Likewise, the pending land disputes on retail outlets will also be looked into by the task force, which will submit its report within a month, he said. To a question, the Minister said the progress of the oil exploration being carried out by ONGC off the Kochi coast is yet to be ascertained. The number of Indian Oil is 54625 and for Bharat Petroleum is 52725, for Vodafone, Idea, Tata and Airtel 57333 and all other telecom service users who are Bharatgas customers in Kerala. RegistrationFor booking a refill, the customershave to register their mobile number with their distributors. The registration is done only once. One customer can register two mobile numbers against his/her LPG connection. A Bharatgas customer needs to type in his mobile message box REG>space<distributorSAPcode< space>consumerNo. An IOC customer has to type distributor’s phone number instead of SAP code. The registration of the mobile number can also be done by visiting the distributor or conveying his mobile number over the phone to the distributor. The customer gets a confirmation on his mobile about his successful registration. On successful registration, booking of LPG cylinder refill can be done by simply typing LPG on its registered mobile and sending the SMS to a five digit number of respective companies. In addition, Bharatgas customers will be getting safety-related messages with each confirmatory SMS message as part of creating awareness.
