Suven Life secures 2 US patents

Hyderabad, Sept. 14

S uven Life Sciences Ltd (Suven) has secured two patents for its new chemical entities for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases from the US Patent Office. The patents, which are valid until 2022 and 2024, included the class of selective 5-HT compounds discovered by Suven. “The compounds are being developed as therapeutic agents and are useful in the treatment of cognitive impairment associated with Alzheimer’s disease, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Huntington’s disease, Parkinson’s and schizophrenia,” the Hyderabad-based company said in a release. According to Mr Venkat Jasti, Chief Executive Officer of Suven, the global market potential drugs for treating cognitive disorders have a potential of $20 billion. – Our Bureau
