National Paints to invest Rs 500 cr in Kerala

Kochi, Sept. 11 National Paints, one of the largest paint consortiums in West Asia with an annual production capacity of four lakh tonnes and sales turnover of over $1 billion, plans to invest Rs 500 crore over the next three years in Kerala.

The newly set up modern plant, having the latest machinery and a daily production capacity of 1.2 lakh litres, will be inaugurated on Saturday, Mr Salim F. Sayegh, Chairman of National Paints Factories Ltd, said. National Paints has a presence in 45 countries and 12 factories worldwide.

The entry into India is part of the company’s aggressive global expansion initiatives. National Paints has set up a subsidiary, National Paints Factories (India) Pvt Ltd, to launch its first unit in India, which will be its 13th across the world.

All raw materials used in production as well as each batch of paint products would be subjected to rigorous laboratory testing to ensure quality standards. The company is set to manufacture the entire range of paint products, including decorative paints, polyurethanes, wood coatings, industrial paints, automotive paints, marine paints and a range of texture and specialty paints. The company is committed to a clean and healthy environment and offers lead-free paints for toys, schools and hospitals, a press release issued here said.

Addressing a press conference in Kochi, Mr. Salim F Sayegh said, “At National Paints, we strive to develop products that help make people’s lives more vibrant and colorful. Since our inception in 1969, we have moved forward at a rapid pace by capitalising on growth opportunities and improving our operating efficiency so as to expand our global presence and sharpen our product portfolio.”
