7,000 officers of Andhra Bank strike work

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Sept 11 Over 7,000 officers of Andhra Bank participated in strike on Friday in response to a call given by All India Andhra Bank Officers Federation (AIBOF) seeking ‘fair’ treatment by the management.

“The strike was a success as 7,000 officers out of 7,333 of our members participated in the strike,” Mr K. Ramakoteswara Rao, General Secretary, AIBOF told Business Line.

To strike again

Due to what it called lack of response from the management, the federation is planning to strike work on September 29 to reiterate demands. “All other workmen unions of the bank, including All India Andhra Bank Award Employees Union, have also decided to participate in the proposed strike,” he said.

The business, though largely affected, was conducted in some branches as Scale IV managers were not included in the strike. Some clearing houses also operated with skeleton staff, officials said.
