ICICI Securities has made available the currency futures trading facility for its online trading clients through its platform ICICIdirect.com.

“For the retail customers, it will be one more source of diversification of asset class,” said Mr Anup Bagchi, Executive Director, ICICI Securities.

“Active traders will benefit from the low margin requirements and better settlement offered in the exchange traded currency future compared with the OTC segment of the market,” Mr Bagchi said.

From a risk management perspective for SME and corporates, there will be a movement towards exchange settled trades away from the OTC markets, he added.

ICICIdirect has around 1.9 million customers.
