Talks with MTN still on: Bharti Airtel

New Delhi, Sept 9

Bharti Airtel on Wednesday said that merger talks with South African telecom company MTN was still on and no agreement has been reached. The Airtel statement follows media reports from international agencies that a preliminary agreement has been reached between the two sides, wherein Bharti has agreed to increase the cash part of its offer. "Reference our ongoing talks with MTN, there have been reports in some sections of the media that a preliminary agreement has been reached between Bharti Airtel and MTN. We would like to categorically deny that any such agreement has been reached between the two companies. The discussions are still on. As and when there is any development, we will share the same with the media," said a Bharti statement.
