New Delhi, Sept. 9 Nikon India will be introducing its “wow-gadget” – a camera integrated projector – in India by October.

The company, which has spruced up its range of digital cameras, said India is the biggest market for it after China in terms of consumption.

“Pocket projector cameras are a rage ever since it was launched in the global market. We will be introducing the S1000pj in India as there is a huge appetite to absorb new gadgets here,” Mr Nobuyoshi Gokyu, Managing Director, Nikon Hong Kong Ltd, told Business Line. The S1000pj, has a built-in LED projector, which will throw images of up to 8x12 inches onto the wall of a darkened room. Nikon also strengthened its line of digital camera with two new offerings – the D300s and the D3000s. These products will be retailed at Rs 30,450 and Rs 109,950 onwards, respectively.

The company will be going aggressive on its marketing and brand campaign. “We are targeting 45 per cent market share in the SLR market,” he said.

The Managing Director of Nikon India, Mr Hidehiko Tanaka, said the company is looking to maintain its growth rate of 35 per cent. It is also scaling up its retail presence by the end of the year by adding 30 exclusive outlets across the country.
