Meet on Bt cotton put off

Coimbatore, Sept. 1

The ‘National Symposium on Bt Cotton’ scheduled between September 2 and 4 at the Central Institute for Cotton Research (CICR), Nagpur stands postponed, according to a communiqué from the institute. The institute would communicate the revised dates to the participants after evaluating the situation, the Joint Secretary and Acting Director of CICR, Dr K.R. Kranthi, said. He said the recent reports about the spread of swine flu in Maharashtra and more specifi cally in Nagpur, forced the organisers to rethink on conducting the symposium. “We have therefore decided to hold the symposium at a later date, possibly in November or December, after evaluating the situation,” the communiqué said.
