Alert issued on quality of milk

Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 1

The Kerala Food Safety Special Officer has issued a general alert to the public against using non-pasteurised and non-chilled milk being sourced under various names and from various centres in the neighbouring States. According to Mr Dinesh Arora, Food Safety Special Officer, these brands – ‘Heritage,’ ‘Matha’ and ‘Jeshma,’ to name a few – could contain chemicals considered harmful to health. The Onam festival-driven demand h as forced sourcing of milk from wherever available, including the neighbouring States. In view of this, all milk brands are being subjected to rigorous quality testing, Mr Arora added.
