Jet told to explain pilots' sacking

Our Bureau

Mumbai, Aug. 31

The Jet Airways management has been advised by the Regional Labour Commissioner to submit a written reply to the unions clarifying the reasons for the recent sacking of two pilots which, in turn, has caused the others to agitate. This written statement will have to be delivered on or before September 7, the date on which the pilots have threatened to go on strike. Sources say that should the strike actually occur, it will eventually be up to the Labour Ministry to take appropriate action.
