New Delhi, Aug 28 Targeting the growing football craze in India, Manchester United Food & Beverage (MUFB Asia) Pte has announced a tie-up with Great Moments Hospitality (GMH) Ltd to launch thematic restaurants and bars in India.

“The concept is to create an atmosphere around the excitement surrounding Manchester United. Our first club will open in South Delhi by 2010 and we have shortlisted three locations for it,” said Mr Rajan Madhu, Director, GMH. Incidentally, Mr Ajay Singh, Director, SpiceJet, is also a partner in this venture.

According to Mr Andy Yun, CEO, MUFB Asia, its Indian partner GMH would operate under a franchise licence. Under the agreement, MUFB will take a percentage of the revenue from sales every month, he said.

More clubs in North

Mr Madhu added that the company has further plans to launch a total of 10 such clubs across north India within two years, under the brand name of the popular football club.

He also said that GMH would regularly get famous football legends to India, besides hosting training camps by Manchester United coaches for budding footballers in the country. It will also provide various Manchester United souvenirs and memorabilia at its clubs. MUFB Asia operates such thematic clubs in Singapore, Indonesia, Bangkok, Korea and Japan.
