Novel campaign by climate change group

New Delhi, Aug 28 Climate Action Network South Asia (CANSA) on Friday organised a summit to mark the 100-day countdown to the United Nations Copenhagen Climate Summit.

The organisation also launched the ‘TckTckTck campaign’ to urge governments to agree on a fair, binding and ambitious deal at the summit.

In a symbolic gesture to show the seriousness of global warming and climate change, the organisation brought out a life-size ice sculpture of the number ‘1’ to melt in the Delhi heat. According to CANSA, the melting of ‘1’ sculpture was to signify that the world has just one chance left.

“The developed nations have committed up to 16 per cent reduction in greenhouse gases by 2020, compared to the levels in 1990. This will not halt the rise in temperature above 4 degree Celsius,” said Mr Sanjay Vashist of CANSA.
