RNRL Sept futures adds 1.31 cr shares

Our Bureau

Chennai, Aug. 26 Turnover remained moderate at Rs 78,077.71 crore in the F&O segment on Wednesday. The Nifty July futures closed at 4680.85 while the September futures closed at 4691.5 against the spot close of 4680.85. The rollover of Nifty futures was 65 per cent, which is much higher than the previous occasions. Among the Nifty options, accumulations were high on the put side, indicating limited down side.

Stock futures

Aban Offshore was the most active contract. The July futures ended in premium at 1539.5 over the spot close of 1538.7.

However, RNRL futures hogged the limelight. The July futures added 42.76 lakh shares and September accumulated 1.31 crore shares. The former closed at 89.55 and the latter at 89.9 against the spot close of 89.25.

September futures of Mercator Lines, Deccan Chronicle and GMR Infrastructure also saw sharp accumulation.

Arbitrage opportunity

Interestingly, quite a few July futures such as Tata Motors, JSW Steel and SBI offered a good Rs 3-4 arbitrage opportunities at the close of the day. However, with broking charges, it would be very difficult to capitalise on that on a real time basis on Thursday.

FII activity

FIIs were net buyers to the tune of Rs 434.57 crore on Thursday.
