HP unveils ‘Compaq Cup’

New Delhi, Aug. 24 IT major Hewlett-Packard on Monday announced the tri-nation `Compaq Cup’ that kicks off on September 8 in Colombo among India, Sri Lanka and New Zealand.

Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh along with Mr Satjiv Chahil, Senior Vice-President, Global Marketing, Personal Systems Group, Hewlett-Packard, and Mr Ravi Swaminathan, President, Personal Systems Group, HP India, unveiled the Compaq Cup 2009 (the world’s first digital trophy) at an event in the Capital.

The digital trophy has a high-tech LCD screen that will project various images such as the tri-series logo, photos of the winning team, the man of the match, and fan messages.

“Compaq Cup is an important milestone for us as it reiterates our long association with sports,” said Mr Ravi Swaminathan. To build awareness around the Compaq Cup, HP is targeting key markets in the country. The company will go to prominent locations and create excitement around the Compaq Cup with graffiti boards, activation vans, posters and streamers at Points-of-Sales. HP Stores and channel partner outlets will be branded with Compaq Cup signage and logos.
