Perot close to deal on healthcare outsourcing

Moumita Bakshi Chatterjee

New Delhi, Aug. 22 IT services firm Perot Systems is close to signing an outsourcing contract in the domestic healthcare market. The contract involves offering healthcare technology services to a large hospital chain, a top official said, but did not divulge details.

“Perot is the largest provider of technology in the healthcare sector, in the US. We are aiming to leverage our expertise for the Indian market now. The contract that we will announce shortly in India will be an anchor deal for us. We can then build on that to gain a further foothold in the market,” Mr Anurag Jain, President, Applications and Process Solutions Group, and Managing Director for APAC, Perot Systems, said.

Eyes MORE deals

Mr Jain said the company is chasing two-three deals in the local market.

“Unlike our approach in other markets, in India we will look at private sector contracts,” he said, adding that the company would first go after contracts in the hospitals, healthcare insurance and life insurance segments.

The company will also target transportation, engineering services, and banking space.

“There has been a significant shift in the Indian market over the last two years. Initially, it was all about people and capacity based outsourcing models but now the market is moving towards an outcome-based model,” he said.

Perot employs nearly 8,300 employees in India. The company has facilities in Chennai, Noida, Bangalore and Coimbatore. “Our fifth centre in Chennai would be launched in two months – this will have a 600-seat capacity. Besides this, our new building will come up in Noida,” Mr Jain added.
