Gas row

This refers to “Ministers’ panel to monitor gas row” (Business Line, August 14). It may be a delayed move, but the constitution of a group of ministers to monitor the government’s stand on the Ambani gas dispute was welcome. Certainly, the Oil Minister’s handling of the case till now can only be classified as prejudiced and detrimental to the government. Thus, the government’s own navrtana, NTPC, had to finally knock on the Solicitor-General’s door for an opinion.

One can only hope that now with this four-member panel and the Power Ministers’ inclusion, transparency will be brought in, and justice done. It would be interesting now to see how the case unfolds in the Supreme Court.
