Wipro trust in pact with tech varsity

Our Bureau

Bangalore, Aug. 13

Mission10X, a not-for-profit trust of Wipro Ltd, has signed an MoU with the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Karnataka, to enhance the employability potential of graduating engineers through faculty development.

Mission10X, a learning initiative of Wipro launched on September 5, 2007, aims at bringing about systemic changes in the teaching-learning practices in engineering education.

With barely 20-25 per cent of India’s six lakh engineering graduates found employable by corporates, members of Wipro’s Mission10X will collaborate with universities and colleges to create a large community of learners and innovators.

Prof H.P. Kincha, Vice-Chancellor, VTU, said that this partnership will enable creation of educational excellence, collaborative experience and intellectual freedom.

Mission10X has, so far, conducted workshops for over 4,000 teachers from 360 engineering colleges across the country.

In Karnataka, over 900 teachers from 90 engineering colleges have gone through the programme. The aim is to reach at least 10,000 faculty members by September 2010, according to Mr Nagarjuna S, Head, Mission10X.
