IICT scientist wins pharma award

Hyderabad, Aug. 12

Dr Ahmed Kamal, Director Grade Scientist of the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, has received the OPPI Scientist Award - 2009 from Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India, in the area of New Chemical Entities (NCEs) and Improved Chiral Entities (ICEs). The Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI) has instituted the OPPI Scientist Award in collaboration with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research as a part of its public-private partnership initiative to honour outstanding research scientists working in India to encourage scientific culture. The award, comprising a memento, citation and cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, was presented at the OPPI general meeting at Mumbai recently.
