Hyderabad to host global ICT conference

Hyderabad, Aug. 10 About 3,000 experts from over 40 countries will take part in Asia’s biggest conference on information communication technologies, eIndia 2009, here between August 25 and 27.

The conference is being organised by the Centre for Science Development and Media Studies and Elets Technomedia, with support from Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Ministry of Broadcasting, Ministry of Human Resources, and Ministry of Agriculture.

Information technology experts, educationists, professionals from development sector and Government officials from India and abroad would take part in the conference to discuss common challenges, solutions, ideas and operating approaches in the digital divide, and identify and explore the opportunities for a digital India.

Five themes

“The conference with themes including e-Governance, digital learning, India telecentre forum, eHealth and e-agriculture will have about 400 eminent speakers to help delegates take stock, synthesise, design and drive the digital competence in the knowledge society in a more professional manner,” Mr Ravi Gupta, Chief Organiser of the conference and exhibition, said in a release.

A virtual interactive digital classroom would be set up during the conference to showcase latest technologies.

Ms D. Purandeswari, Minister of State for Higher Education Ministry of Human Resource and Development, would inaugurate the meet.
