Ista Hotels to invest Rs 90 crore in Hyderabad property

The expansion will help add 137 new rooms, a couple of restaurants and conferencing facilities. The hotel has set up the first Spa Institute in the country and now offer courses.

V. Rishi Kumar

Hyderabad, Aug. 5 Ista Hotels, part of the Delhi-based IHHR Hospitality, plans to invest up to Rs 90 crore in expansion at the existing facility at Gachi Bowli.

“This project builds on its 18 months of maiden run in Hyderabad, wherein Ista has made significant inroads into the corporate circles and has set up the country’s first Spa Institute,” according to Mr Jaideep Anand, General Manager, Ista Hotels.

Growth plans

Mr Anand said, “It is time to take stock of growth plans and we expect to commence work on expansion by the end of the year. Designs are ready. The expansion will help us add about 137 new rooms, a couple of restaurants and conferencing facilities.”

Part of IHHR Hospitality, which also owns Ananda Spa & Resorts, and manages three properties in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Amritsar, is in the process of adding two more properties one with 210 rooms in Pune and another at Ahmedabad with 250 rooms.

Distinct advantage

Initially, it took a while for some of the visitors to get acquainted to the new facility due to its location away from most of the existing properties. Now, it has brought about a distinct advantage as this is the only such facility located near the new international airport, ISB Campus, Microsoft, UBS, near the Financial District, where ICICI is coming up with a mega project, he said.

“Apart from its distinct design, we have set up the first Spa Institute in the country and now offer courses which help people specialise in this new and emerging area where there is dearth of professionals. Those who come out of the institute are granted global certification, which is valid across the world,” he said.

The company has secured about 16 acres from the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation and expects to take up expansion in the same premises.

The company is also likely to buy out APIIC interest in the project, Mr Anand said.
