Record throughput at KDS

Kolkata, Aug. 5 In July, Kolkata Dock System (KDS) of Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT) handled 34,287 TEUs, a record monthly container throughput surpassing the previous best of 33,219 TEUs in June 2009, according to a press release issued by KoPT.

Cumulatively, during April-July 2009, the throughput was 1,24,886 TEUs, a growth of 21.57 per cent over 1,02,723 TEUs in the same period of 2008.

In 2008-09, KDS handled 3,02,169 TEUs, the release adds.
