Machine for faster liver tests

Hyderabad, Aug. 5

Siemens has installed the first liver elastography machine at the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology here. The machine, Acuson S2000, uses sound waves to detect abnormalities in liver in just 10 minutes. “Also, one need not go for a biopsy to ascertain certain liver conditions. We have tested the machine in 1,000 cases and found the results accurate,” Dr D. Nageswar Reddy, Chief of AIG, said. The Rs 1-crore machine is embedded with software syngo eSieCalcs, sy ngo Auto OB measurements and syngo fourSight that help physicians maintain their schedules and free them from repetitive tasks. Screening would cost Rs 3,000 for a patient.
