E-payment of excise, service tax

New Delhi, Aug 2

Oriental Bank of Commerce has been authorised by the Reserve Bank of India and the Central Board of Excise and Customs to collect central excise duty and service tax through e-payment. Mr Alok K. Misra, Chairman and Managing Director, formally launched the online facility for collection of the tax at an event held here on Saturday, a release issued by the bank said. OBC is already handling the business of of-line collection of direct taxes. The bank, at present, has 1,4 10 branches and 61 extension counters across the country.
